Ivey League Martial Arts Kids Shined At The Naga Virginia Beach!

Some of  the kids of the Ivey League Martial Arts program went down to Virginia Beach this past weekend and competed in the Naga tournament, which is focusing on ground grappling and included styles such as:

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
Sombo
Judo
Wrestling
Japanese Jujitsu

Out of 5 kids we ended up pulling in 5 medals! 3 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Master Danny Ives said that he felt the kids looked on point and was very happy with their display of skill and heart out there on the mats.

The most noticed improvement was the guard skills shown by the kids. They were hitting all types of advanced techniques from the guard like:

-The Armbar
-Flower Sweep
-Superman Sweep

This group was a bit more seasoned as they’d all competed in grappling tournaments before. That made the whole process a bit easier for both the staff and the kids. Everyone knew what to expect.

The kids who competed are listed below:

Jacob Miller
Holden Murphy
Robert Mish
Alex Fogt
Trent Drake

The highlight of the tournament was when Jacob Miller hit a beautiful head and arm toss then went right into a paint brush to get the submission. It was outstanding to say the least.

Next up for the kids will be the battle at the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey. There’s also a Naga event and is known to be the biggest and best on the east coach for gi and nogi grappling. We’ll be sure not to miss it.

Below is the finals of the gi division. In the video is BBC Member Jacob Miller. Enjoy!
