On Saturday, June 16th, Master Danny Ives promoted only the 2nd Brazilian Jiu Jitsu youth yellow belt at Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts.
That young man is none other then longtime student and BBC Leadership Member Christian “Sea Side Heights NJ” Barcikowski!
After almost 4 years of training with Team Lloyd Irvin Master Danny felt it was time to bump Sea Side (as we call him) to the rank of BJJ yellow belt.
Sea Side has been nothing but an outstanding martial arts student for us here at Ivey League. He can do it all, Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo. That plus he’s always so helpful with the other kids and really goes out of his way to be a good leader and role model to the lower ranking students.
Sea Side isn’t the only Barcikowski that takes martial arts classes as his brother and father both have a long background in martial arts. His brother William is in our Lil Ninja program and is 6 years old.
Sea Side and his family drive all the way from Bowie Maryland to take martial arts classes with us. They do that at least 3 days a week but sometimes 4 or 5. Sea Side and his brother also attend our martial arts summer camp during the week.
I should point out how the belts work here at Ivey league MMA…
Sea Side was already a Jr. black belt in the Team Lloyd Irvin martial arts training system. However, as most know, at Team Lloyd Irvin we use 2 different martial arts ranking systems, those are:
- Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
- Thai Jitsu (Team LI Style Created By Master Lloyd Irvin)
Sea Side now joins his teammate and buddy Brendan “Spike” Bill as the only 2 BJJ yellow belts at Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts in Annapolis Maryland.
Congrats to you good sir! You make all of the staff and your family very proud.
