Student spotlight – Christine Capote

Today I don’t want to talk about techniques or training gameplans, not that it wouldn’t be worth talking about. I felt like this would be a good time to spotlight one of our up and coming students, Ms. Christine “Cuban Bee” Capote.

I wanted to talk about her because she’s the reason I opened my MMA academy in the Annapolis area. To help people like Christine achieve their goals, whether in life or fitness.

Christine, or as I like to call her the Cuban Bee. She’s an upcoming super talent in the Ivey League MMA program. Now, she doesn’t just do MMA, she also does Kickboxing, BJJ, and Wrestling classes! So yeah you could say that she takes this whole MMA thing pretty seriously.

The Cuban Bee never misses class, and if she does (rare) she emails me to say she’s sorry. I’m not sure I have a student right now that works as hard as this young lady. By day she’s an office and tech worker and by night an aspiring MMA fighter. One of the other instructors said to me the other day “Dude Christine is getting good super fast!” I was “like yeah well she should be, look at how hard this girl works!” Keep in mind that Christine doesn’t train 6 days a week either. She trains 2-3 days a week and takes different classes throughout the week with MMA being the main focus.

When the Cuban Bee first came into Ivey League MMA, Miss Teresa asked her what she was hoping to gain from the training with us and she said that she just got divorced and was looking for a way to reduce stress and get in great shape. I guess you could say she got bit by the MMA training bug.

6 weeks ago we felt the time had come to move Christine up to the Combat Gold program. This is sort of like the Ivey League bachelors degree program. We don’t regret that decision one bit as The Cuban Bee has been nothing shy of fantastic in those classes.

I’m looking for big things to come from this up and coming rock star from York, PA. look out for the name, Christine “The Cuban Bee” Capone!!
