Obesity in Annapolis MD – Fitness

It’s quite possible you’ve seen the news headlines by now, but it’s a topic that can’t be
ignored. In the last 15 years, the obesity rate in America has increased 90% or NEARLY
DOUBLE!!! Maryland was ranked 26th out of the 50 states, with 27.1% of our residents
considered obese.

So what does this mean for you? It may be a reality check. You may not even know what
your relative health is concerning your weight. Many people are simply uninformed, or
unfortunately in denial, of what a healthy weight is. This is a great opportunity to learn
and improve your health if need be. So let’s dive right in!

Really what does obese mean? Most people make the incorrect association of obesity
with morbid obesity, which is far more extreme. According to the CDC, measuring your
Body Mass Index (BMI) which correlates your weight and height with likely amount of
body fat is the easiest way to determine your weight status category. You can easily find
a BMI calculator online and find your own number. Once you do, compare to the charts.
This is a good way to gauge where you are and set goals for yourself to either remain in
that healthy range or get a move on and lose the extra weight. Here is the scale from the
CDC:

BELOW 18.5 = Underweight
18.5-24.9 = Normal
25.0-29.9 = Overweight
30.0 and ABOVE = Obese

Unfortunately for many people, weight management is a stressful topic. Instead of
obsessing over how to lose 20 pounds overnight, be smart about improving your health.
Weight management can be a way to relieve stress if you find an activity that is FUN for
you to do and MOTIVATES you to get moving. The weight will come off (or stay off)
and it won’t feel like it’s a thankless job.

Get your payoff by trying something new and guaranteed to help you lose weight –
